The Urban History Newsletter

Greetings from the Editor

For those of you of a certain age, you may recall that a letter beginning with "Greetings" meant that you were about to be drafted. Well with this communication I would like to enlist your help in making and keeping the Urban History Newsletter the informative and valuable tool that it has been. Readers of the Newsletter know that we begin each issue with a short article or two on topics, issues or events of interest to the membership. Such articles might discuss new scholarship on an issue or problem in urban history or they might detail the design philosophy/process behind a new exhibit or entire museum. The March 2000 issue included a short article on the challenges faced when editing an encyclopedia. The Fall 2000 issue had a cover story on Urban History in Las Vegas. If you have ideas, please let me know. The newsletter has published a variety of different articles in the past and I'd like to continue that tradition. The newsletter also includes notices on career milestones, research in progress, and other items such as faculty appointments or the creation of new undergraduate or graduate programs. If you have news that might be of interest to the members, drop me a line. You can contact me at stricklandj@mail.montclair.edu.
